中国社会科学院新闻与传播研究所成立于1978年。研究所下设6个研究室、1个新闻与传播学系及博士后流动站，拥有新媒体研究中心、舆情调查实验室等多个非实体研究机构，重点研究马克思主义新闻学、传播学和新媒体领域。研究所承担着国家新闻学和传播学基础理论研究与实际应用的重任，是政府和学术界的重要智库。主要出版物包括《新闻与传播研究》《中国新闻年鉴》和《中国新媒体发展报告》。自2013年起，研究所实施创新工程，聚焦新闻传播发展趋势、跨文化传播及新媒体研究等多个创新项目。

The Institute of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was established in 1978. It comprises 6 research divisions, a Department of Journalism and Communication, and a postdoctoral research station. In addition, it hosts non-institutional research centers, including the New Media Research Center and the Public Opinion Survey Laboratory. Focusing on the study of Marxist journalism, communication studies, and new media, it plays a crucial role as a think tank for both the government and academia. Moreover, the institute conducts foundational research and practical applications in journalism and communication theory, with major publications such as Journalism & Communication Studies, China Journalism Yearbook, and China New Media Development Report. Since 2013, the institute has initiated an innovation project that focuses on trends in journalism and communication, cross-cultural communication, and new media studies.
