中国社会科学院拉丁美洲研究所成立于1961年，是国内最大的拉美综合性研究机构。目前研究所的研究重点是：拉美地区的经济、政治、国际关系、社会和文化及综合理论。拉丁美洲研究所设有六个研究室，并拥有《拉丁美洲研究》学术期刊。自创建以来，研究所承担了多项国家社科基金项目，编写了多部拉美相关的工具书和专著，为中国的拉美研究做出了重要贡献。研究所与拉美各国驻华使馆及全球多国的大学和研究机构建立了广泛的学术合作，并多次举办国际学术会议。为了加强国别研究，研究所还成立了多个研究中心，为推动中国拉美研究事业的发展发挥了重要作用。

The Institute of Latin American Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences was established in 1961. It is the largest comprehensive research institution for Latin American studies in China. Its current research focuses on the economy, politics, international relations, society, culture, and theoretical issues related to Latin America. The institute comprises six research departments and publishes the academic journal Latin American Studies. Since its founding, the institute has been responsible for numerous National Social Science Fund projects. It has also compiled numerous reference books and monographs on Latin America, making significant contributions to China's Latin American studies. The institute has also established extensive academic cooperation with Latin American embassies in China, as well as universities and research institutions worldwide. Moreover, it has hosted numerous international academic conferences. To enhance country-specific research, it has established several research centers, playing a crucial role in advancing China’s Latin American studies.
