Tunc Akkoc, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Harici, emphasized the pivotal role of BRICS and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in driving global economic growth during a recent interview. Akkoc highlighted that BRICS economies are expanding rapidly, positioning the group as a key player in the world’s economic future.
According to Akkoc, more than 40 countries have already applied to join BRICS, attracted by its multilateral and cooperative approach. The Belt and Road Initiative, led by China, is one of BRICS’ most valuable assets, offering substantial trade and economic opportunities for member nations and other developing countries. These partnerships are built on principles of mutual respect, cooperation, and friendship, fostering sustainable growth.
Akkoc also pointed out the growing importance of alternative payment methods in global trade. The development of a BRICS payment system, which would enable real-time cross-border transactions, is currently on the agenda. This system, he noted, is expected to have a significant impact on international trade and economic development, further enhancing BRICS’ influence on the global stage.
